What is ‘Koyaanisqatsi?’

Are We Living In Cloud Cuckoo Land?

Koyaanisqatsi is an ancient Hopi Indian word, meaning “world out of balance.” Known as the “peaceful ones,” the Hopi’s apocalyptic mythology describes a “state of living which calls for another way.” “If we dig precious things from the land, we will invite disaster” – Hopi prophecy. Today, the Koyaanisqatsi Trust recognises that our dominant pattern [...]

Working For Positive Change

The Koyaanisqatsi Trust is a brand new charitable trust, established to provide resilient, peer to peer funding and expertise to grassroots, environmentally conscious people and projects, in both the UK and abroad. “There seems to be no ability to see beyond, to see that we have encased ourselves in an artificial environment that has remarkably [...]

Projects

The Koyaanisqatsi Trust understands that our role is to facilitate positive change and to empower the creativity of people and projects who share our vision of a self-sufficient, community focused and resilient future. Please take a moment to share in the movement which these initiatives are helping to pioneer, by reading their profiles and visiting their websites. Better still, why not get in touch, to connect a few more like minds and share in their skills and expertise?  Read More →

The Freeconomy Blog: Free + Real

We’re delighted to announce the support of our very first project, the incredible Free and Real in Greece. With proceeds raised by last summer’s Cloud Cuckoo Land Festival, the Koyaanisqatsi Trust will fund the construction of a 24ft yurt that will support the project’s expansion, by hosting guests, seminars and workshops. The following blog was first published on Mark Boyle’s Freeconomy site, but was penned by our very own eco tramps, Brake the Cycle. Having rolled...

The Koyaanisqatsi Trust

Something like six months ago, as the dust settled on an unbelievable weekend of magic and mayhem in the Clouds, six young people with a shared vision came together around a box of indoor fireworks. They were celebrating the birth of the Koyaanisqatsi Trust: a brand new, peer to peer fundraising initiative, designed to provide people and projects committed to principles of ecological sustainability, localisation and resilience with easy access to ‘no strings’ small grants and...
